What
does it mean if a song is lost? Well, if you're radio industry writer
Sean Ross, it means you are obsessed with songs that your own numbers
say people don't wanna hear anymore. However, for some, like our own
Bob Cavanaugh, these songs can be iintriguing -- especially if you grew
up in the 2000's, and remember some of those songs. So, on this week's
Radio Serena, Bob presents Radio Serena -- the 90's, Oldies, and Lost
2k. And, to better understand what Bob and I are referencing, please
see the article below.

Clearing the Static 2331
It's a quiet week here at CTS, meaning we have a bit of time to fill at the end of the program. Among the news items we do have, maybe the saga of the Oregon coast stations isn't over? We thought with the cancellation of the 102.7 license, that saga would be over, but we're hearing from ears in the market that the station is still on the air. In other news, hot talk doesn't seem to have lasted long in Las Vegas, an expected change has taken place in Seattle, and a new likely Spanish CHR is coming to Twin Falls. That, plus the bus adding a stop in State College, and a few other changes this week.
Clearing the Static 2330
It's a relatively slow week in radio this week, but we manage to fill most of our time with thoughts on the impending shutdown of All Access. Before we get there though, we have a small number of other stories including two sales in California that will likely lead to format changes, and a reaction in Buffalo to the demise of Star 102.5. All that and a few more changes this week.
Clearing the Static 2329
It's the pace we like it here at CTS. That is not too much news, but just enough to fill the hour. After some small talk about the weather, it's off to Austin, where one change has taken place and another has been announced. Later, State College has a sports station as more fallout from the January market restructuring takes place. Also, we appear to know what's going on in Charleston, but we're waiting on official confirmation. At the end of the program, we talk about what the future of the large radio companies might look like.
Clearing the Static 2328
It's another quiet week here at CTS. We first start in coastal Oregon, where a station will not be returning. Then, we get another 2000s based station, and a few other changes. We finish out the hour with some thoughts about the LPFM window.

Clearing the Static 2325
It's been a while since we've had a week like this on CTS. There wasn't a lot that happened, but what did happen was big news.
First, the Audacy EMF deal has closed, and we know how things are
shaking out. Also, tucked into that deal was a provision that affected
Dallas, as Bob first predicted some months back.
Next, it appears Cumulus is looking to get out of Detroit. Bob and
Serena thought a big swap would be coming to that market, but now that's
likely off the table. What will happen to 107.5 in that market though?
Lastly, we now know that Radio GPT is being used on a station in
Portland, but as of taping time, Bob hasn't heard the result yet. As of
the writing of the description, I'm still a bit confused as to how this
is being used. All that and more this week.
Clearing the Static 2324
t's another surprisingly quiet week in radio this week. The three big stories are as follows:
1. San Francisco's Live 105.3 has in fact returned, with alternative from 1986 to now.
2. Audacy has set sign off times for its stations that we knew were
going away for months. This has triggered another change in Buffalo.
3. Civic Media has closed on one purchase and made some changes, and grows again.
We have some time again at the end, so find out how discussion of AI
leads to a discussion of telephone operation. All that and more this
week on CTS.
