Radio Serena Show 96: The Ghost Show

This week on Radio Serena, er, I mean, "The Ghost," it's another one
of our great Halloween shows.  One of your favorite characters is back
by popular demand, and our story takes some interesting turns.
I'd like to make some thank yous now.  Firstly and formostly, I'd
really like to thank Jennifer Tissot for working so hard on putting
all this together.  She created the script, and made it come to life
using her sharp mind for sound and creativity, a skilled and wide
ranging voice and a program called Goldwave.  It is her true talent
that makes this story shine.  She also selected some of the music for
this show.  Thanks for this also has to go to Jim Pemberton of WQNA in
Springfield, who really help me to program certain songs in accordence
with the story lines.  My last (but not least important) thank you has
to go to Bob Cavanaugh for helping the show through one of it's minor
plot points.  The people who have helped me have made this show the
awesome one that it is.

1.  The FCC proposes changes to protections for C
lass A
 AM stations where by they would lose their protected clear channel
status.  We debate and discuss.
2.  The FCC has denied the patition by KVSL AM in Sholo, AZ to turn
off the AM signal.  Will there be more filings in the future?
3.  Emmis Communications has decided to fold the Next Radio app for FM
chips in sell phones.  This means that people won't be able to listen
to FM on their smart phones anymore without a data plan.  What will
this mean for the industry?  We dsicuss.

2.  A new "Palm" grows in Columbia, SC, thanks to Alpha Media.
3.  "Duke" takes "The Loyd" out of town, and take Classic Country with
him.  In it's place is a new Hit Country format named after the
Indianna express way.
4.  Speaking of "The Drive", there's a "Fresh" one to take in
Washington, DC, as Entercom blows up Hot AC "Fresh" for Classic Hits
"Drive"  -- becoming the only station in the market with that format.
5.  "La Z" debuts in Orlando, bring Spanish language Christian radio
to the market.

ownership deregulation, and how the industry might not be speaking
with one voice.  Also, Sirius/XM announces it's intentions to buy
Pandora.  What does that mean for the radio space?  Neilson goes to
monthly reporting in diary markets.  Plus, an translator in Elmira at
102.9 with an Urban format gets objections from a long-established
Christian station in Syracuse at 102.9.  Thing is... this translator
has been on the air since 1995 without a complaint until now.  All
