Radio Serena Show 383

This week, we celebrate the beginning of summer (official or not) with our anual summer show. Before that, though, we should mention that next week is our interactive microformat. So, if you can interact with us please, and help us out, that would be awesome. We have 2 questions we will be discussing:
1. If you could be age again, what would it be?
And, 2. If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
To help us answer these questions, please join our Facebook group, Serena's Secret Coffee Corner, and post your answers there. Or, you can call or text our listenerline at (315)_236-2001.

Clearing the Static 2421

What has become typical about the industry over the last month or so is that when we talk on Wednesday or even right up to production time is that we feel like we're going to have time to fill, then we get to the end of our news cycle and we only have a few minutes left. This week is no exception, as we have just the right amount of news to fill the hour. We read some names affected by Beasley's layoffs a couple weeks ago at the end of the program, but first a new Classic Hits station comes to Missouri, Alpha makes major cuts in small Midwestern markets, a troubled Birmingham station is sold, and there's way too much coast in New Jersey. All that and more this week.

First off, I apologize for the fact that we appear to be talking all over each other in this week's show. The platform we use records each person's audio separately, but for some reason, the Radio Kid's audio didn't upload right away, and there are some gaps in her audio. Nevertheless we do have some stuff to talk about, including Townsquare selling three stations in upstate New York, WWFW shifting from variety hits to classic hits, and cuts at Alpha Media Chicago that could lead to a format change. All that and more this week.

We have just enough news this week that we only have time to briefly touch on the layoffs that happened at multiple companies this week. Elswhere, Lotus has launched another Hank, a contemporary worship station comes to North Carolina, and two classic hip-hop icons come to rural Illinois. All that and much much more this week.

It's a quiet week this week, but we still manage to find a way to fill the hour. The biggest story of the week is a format change appears likely at KEGL in Dallas. Also, what's going on at Power 98.3 in Phoenix? Also Retro Country comes to Corpus Christie, and a few other developments this week.
