We spend most of this episode of CTS discussing Cumulus. They are preparing to file for bankruptcy, but it is hoped that the company will be able to turn itself around. One major fall out from their financial woes is the forced retirement of iconic and at times controversial DJ and talk show host Don Imus. We discuss his legacy, and the impact he and others like him have had on radio. Lastly, it's the end of an era, as Scripps will soon be putting all of its radio stations up for sale. In this extra, The Radio Kid and Jake Longwell discuss and debate the rules concerning "obscene" language and broadcast radio and television. This debate is inspired by the recent "shithole" controversy which has caused much debate, and which may get NBC and its affiliate stations in trouble with the FCC. Should we loosen the regulations concerning obscene language? Should the rules remain the same? Or should they be tightened even further? Should certain words be added or dropped from the list of those unacceptable according to the FCC? Listen to our interesting discussion and debate.

We open this week with discussion of big changes at a cluster of public radio stations in North Carolina, including the decision to ditch local Classical music hosts in favor of satellite delivered programming. Does this help public radio's claim to be better than commercial radio? We think not! Then, a popular Spanish language music format disappears completely from all of its outlets out West, and no one seems ot know why. There's a new Chinese language radio station coming to "Los Angeles". Town Square Media is making changes to several of its Rock radio stations, to make room for a new syndicated morning show. An all Blues station comes to Jackson, Mississippi. Finally, we discusss the fall out of NBC's decision to utter the word shithole during its newscast. Will the FCC take action over this?
