Clearing the Static 2522
It's another addition of the radio show that talks about radio this week, and the main topic seems to be station closings, as there were at least four this week. Before we get there, we talk about a station launching on HD3, which leads to a side discussion about who listens to HD channels. Later, it's the usual roundup of format changes from the last 10 days or so.
Clearing the Static 2521
We thought we would have time to fill this week, but we get to most of the things with a few left over.
The story we both have the most to say about is Delilah shutting down her station on the Oregon coast.
After
that, it's a new oldies station in Maine, an owner going bankrupt, and a
new station that seems interesting in Arkansas. All that, plus an
update on the Alpha Media sale.
Clearing the Static 2520
It's a quiet week on CTS this week, which leads us to some stories we
failed to mention in our previous shows because no trade actually picked
them up.
Before we get there though, we have lots of changes across
Canada, a country station in Texas dropping local programming, and a
station in Oregon likely going dark. All that and more this week.
Clearing the Static 2519
We get through most of our news this week. We were wrong on one station going Hank, but against our hopes, another one did. Also, there's a new bilingual party in Orlando, a few Christian sales, a new rock station in Nevada, and more this week.
Clearing the Static 2518
It's a very sale-heavy episode this week. Fortunately, we only had to
leave a few stories out this week, we're no longer a week plus behind as
we have been.
Among the highlights, we first discuss the fallout
from Westwood1 eliminating seven of its formats. Later, Jacobs has
launched Classic Hip-Hop in Missoula. That, plus two weeks worth of
station sales, EMF doing some buying, and a station in Colorado is
reserected.
Clearing the Static 2517
It's another addition of the radio show that talks about radio.
We're
still catching up from when we didn't get to everything several weeks
ago, but we're almost there. This week, we start with some station
sales, then round up some format changes, including a revamped rock
station in Alabama, a station returns to its proper frequency in
Florida, and some Spanish language developments in North Carolina.

Clearing the Static 2516
It's another addition of the radio show that talks about radio for this Easter weekend. On the agenda this week, we start off with some sales. Then, several public stations around Buffalo have rebranded as BTPM. Why doesn't this make sense? Later, we see some changes to both Bigfoot and Sasquatch brands in two markets. Also, a country station in St. George has revamped. All that and more this week.
Clearing the Static 2515
We didn't even get to all of last week's news on the program this week.
After some banter about travel, here are some of the stories we did get
to:
A different take on Classic Hits in Minot.
Several Spanish flips around the country, including one that was long delayed in New York.
ME TV comes to Lafayette, Indiana.
All that and so much more this week.
Clearing the Static 2514
On this week's show, we cover a lot of last week's news, including rumors around the sale of both Alpha and Cox. Also, Catholic programming moves in Des Moines. We also have changes in Ontario as a result of sales there. More stations continue to sign off, but what about Buffalo's 1270? Could that have a potential buyer?

Clearing the Static 2513
We spend all of this week's program catching up on last week's developments, which include changes at the FCC, Westwood1 eliminating 7 of its 20 formats, and Seven Mountains making changes in Kentucky. That, plus a couple stations in eastern Washington being sold.
Clearing the Static 2512
Somehow, time got away from us on this episode of the program, as we mainly focus on what's happening at the FCC, after getting through some station sales we didn't get to last week.
Clearing the Static 2511
We do a lot of analysis and discussion on this week's show.
First, a well established Vermont station shuts down.
Then, could Cumulus be starting to regionalize some of its brands?
Also, EMF may have found a way into St. Louis. All that and more this week.

While we have very few format changes to report on this week, there are a few, including at least one caused by the major layoffs at Audacy. Also, what's going on at Cumulus? That, plus two stations being bought by employees, and the tragic death of an owner in a skiing accident. All that and more this week.

Clearing the Static 2508
It's a quiet week this week. We do have some developments, including one in San Antonio that gets us talking about how we don't understand the workings of sports radio. Also, bilingual AC doesn't seem to work in Austin, and what's going on in South Bend? All that, plus goings on in the government are brought up this week.
Clearing the Static 2507
It's a relatively quiet week this week, but we each bring a story to the program that the other didn't know about at the end.
First, the big story, as what's going on at 1280 New York? Also, Sticks
Media goes Classic Hits on the station we told you was stunting last
week and is buying another station, two public stations separate from
their parent university while two networks owned by the same university
merge, and the station that had its tower mysteriously stolen is back on
the air.
Clearing the Static 2506
There are a lot of sales to talk about this week. Among them are Steven King finding a buyer for his remaining stations, a Vermont state senator acquiring a cluster in that state, and a sale of a cluster in Arizona to its general manager. Media Co is also acquiring the licenses of Estrella Media. Also, what's going on in Lompoc, CA? At the end of the program, we talk about what's happening at the FCC.
Clearing the Static 2505
There's surprisingly a lot to get to this week. In no particular order, here's what we covered:
A sale in western Colorado fails to close.
Two stations in Georgia are shutting down in order to move to a bigger market.
Some infighting leads to the pause of all local programming at a community station in St. Lewis.
Some late breaking news about 100.7 in San Diego.
All that and more this week.
Clearing the Static 2504
It's another addition of the radio show that talks about radio. Among the topics discussed on this week's show, EMF, or should I say K-Love, has set plans for the stations they just bought from Salem. Also, the company is changing its name. In other news, a new Spanish-language community station is launched in Massachusetts, hip-hop comes back to Providence, a new Christian rock station debutes in Ohio, and much more.

Clearing the Staic 2502
"It's a busy week this week as we have lots to catch up on from last week, and we do get into this week's news.
The
big story of the program is that Salem is selling most of its Christian
music stations to EMF. What does this mean for each market?
We also
have three stations signing off, one in Michigan and two in Missoula,
plus True Oldies comes to Louisville, and Latino Media Network makes
several rebrands. All that and more this week.
Clearing the Static 2501
It's a new year, and that means lots of changes. We only get to half the
news we have this week, but among the stories we do get to are the
following:
Jack was busy, debuting in two markets while expanding his house in a
third. Also, Bob comes to Kansas City. Additionally, one of Steven
King's stations in Maine is saved by local investors, and the stunt that
gained national attention in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. All that and much
more on this week's show.
Clearing the Static 2452
Note, this transfer expires in seven days, so no hurry in grabbing it.
It's our year in review this week. The discussion focuses largely on the
cuts in the industry, and we wander into a bit of technical details as
well as a bit of nostalgia.
Specific topics discussed include Audacy's bankruptcy, Salem selling assets, and cuts, particularly at Alpha.
Clearing the Static 2451
We have plenty of time to fill this week, but somehow, with a lot of
jokes and side tangents, we manage to fill it. Among the changes on this
week before Christmas,
SBS has closed on its acquisition of KROI in Houston.
An Innovative concept comes to Vermont. Unfortunately, it's not streaming.
A new rock station comes to Florida's panhandle.
KFBG in San Diego is sold and will have to change names again.
All that, plus Bob shares his observations of Christmas radio.

Important Message From the CTS Productions Webmaster
Hi Folks.
I've been rather busy of late and have fallen short in my duties as CTS webmaster. Unfortunately, I must do so for a bit longer as I am taking a much needed break from radio to visit friends in Illinois and Missouri through the end of January. As I am posting this in somewhat of a hurry, I am linking to the page on archive.org with all of the latest CTS and Radio Serena uploads. If you click on this link, you can go to the page and click on the link for VBR MP3 to see all of the files in the collection. When I return on Jan. 31, I shall create proper blog entries for all of these files. Thanks for your understanding. Jake Longwell: CTS Webmaster
